Passionately Palermo
A London Airport, TBD, London, GBA most amazing 5 day trip to fabulous Palermo the vibrant capital of Sicily with its fabulous coastline, great cuisine, lovely bars and outdoor cafes and alluring atmosphere!
Let's go with the flow!
Please book 4 nights accommodation in Palermo and return flights when available and then place a comment on the event page to that effect.
You can of course arrive a few days before the trip or travel back a few days after the trip has finished and travel within other parts of Sicily visiting for example Taormina or Syracuse.

Likely itinerary - all walks between 6 and 10 miles in length and there will be some hills and challenging heights

Thursday afternoon
Beautiful Riserva Naturale di Capo Gallo by Mondello travelling by 806 bus.
Bus journey is 27 mins and runs every 10 mins from Turati-la-lumia.
We shall meet for the bus as from 2.45pm in Turati-la-lumia in Palermo.
We shall meet for the walk itself 3.45pm for 4pm by Touring Beach Cafe in Mondello.
There is a one euro charge to enter the nature reserve.

Friday
Town of Cefalu on the coast which houses a huge rock - Rocca di Cefalu - that we shall climb.
Bring 5 euros in cash for entrance.
Meet train station as from 9am.
Train ticket : Cefalu return
Direct train to Cefalu is 9.50am to 10.45am.
You are free to come back to Palermo at any time of your choosing as from lunch time as its free time to sightsee, swim and sunbathe.
Or you may wish to visit Monreale within Palermo and it's most wonderful cathedral.
Some of us will be dining as from 7.30pm on tables of 6 at Lumia Restaurant.

Meet by train station
Travelling by private coach to Trapani for the ferry to island of Favignana
Meet 8.45am for 9am
You have the CHOICE of travelling to Favignana island for the hike and swim or spending time in wonderful Trapani with a chance to visit Erice by cable car instead of taking the ferry.
Everyone who takes the ferry shall be responsible for buying their own ferry tickets.

Hike Monte Pellegrino on the outskirts of Palermo
Take either bus 101 from Roma Poste or 806 from Turati-la-lumia to Imperatore Frederico.
Meet 10.15am for 10.30am by Sakura Japanese Restaurant
Late afternoon there is another chance of visiting Monreale within Palermo and it's most wonderful cathedral.

Meet by train station
Travelling by private coach to stunning Parco dello Zingaro.
Meet 9.15am for 9.30am
Entrance fee to the park 5 euros card payment only.
Need to bring plenty of food and drink as not possible to buy anything once we have entered the National Park itself.
Chance to swim in the sea.
After the hike the coach will transfer everyone to Palermo airport

Meetup fee £40 payable in advance by bank transfer ( season ticket holders : £30 ).
Deposit for coach share of fees £50 to be paid by end of July 2025 otherwise you will forfeit your place on this trip.
Actual cost of share of coach hire for two days is £40.
Meetup fees to be paid by end of April 2026.
You should be able to walk 2.5 miles per hour and have adequate and appropriate insurance for this type of activity.
Walking and hiking in the Great Outdoors presents certain low level risks and by rsvping to this trip you agree to undertake such risks.
You MUST wear good hiking boots or shoes due to uneven terrain throughout.
If this trip has to be cancelled for whatever reason then it cannot be guaranteed that the coach monies will be refunded.
You must stay with the group at all times during the walk as it puts too much pressure on the group if people wander off.
If you make arrangements with others for restaurants or taxis you should honour it.
